"Portrait of Jim" by Claudia

I and my wife, Lyn, retired to Livingston, NY in 1999. I had worked in NYC for 30 years as an advertising Art Director and Graphic Designer but painting in oils and watercolors had always been a plan.

Upon retirement I set up a studio at home and began painting right away. Lyn was writing picture books for kids and had one ready for submission. I decided the best medium for the book illustrations would be water color and the self - teaching began.

Together we have since published four children's books and water colors have become potentially a very expressive painting direction for me.

I do work in oils as well. I love impressionism and classic realism. I look for surprising light, color, value patterns, and design in my work and both mediums offer their own unique challenge. I look for drama in landscapes or portraits, still-lifes or botanicals - wherever there's potential for stopping power.

I don't want you walking by my work.
